Research Programmes
The Faculty of Hotel and Tourism Management (FHTM) Universiti Teknologi MARA has been established since 1967 to train future professionals in the disciplines of hospitality and tourism. FHTM offers four major programs namely:
- Hotel Management
- Tourism Management
- Culinary Arts and Gastronomy
- Foodservice Management
FHTM offers all level of tertiary education (Diploma, Degree, Masters, and Ph.D.) from its main campus in Bandar Puncak Alam, Selangor and its five branch campuses nationwide (Malacca, Terengganu, Penang, Sabah, and Sarawak). The Centre of Postgraduate Studies (CPS) offers four core programs for both Master and Doctor of Philosophy candidates. In line with the rapid expansion of the university in enrolling students from off-shore, the CPS of FHTM had started the internationalization effort recently. Our current students are from Bangladesh, China, Indonesia, Arab Saudi, Iran and Pakistan.

HM750 - Master of Science (Hotel Management)
Synopsis
This program gives special importance to student-centered learning in developing the required competencies in the area of tourism and its related events. This program provides a platform for students to further enhance their learning in acquiring special areas of interest within the tourism scope. Students will be actively involved in understanding the current issues and problems associated with the growth of the tourism industry and the outcome of the study will evidently contribute to the understanding of the current tourism scenario at large.
Entry Requirement
- A Bachelor’s degree in the fields or related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.75 or equivalent, as accepted by the UiTM Senate; OR
- A Bachelor’s degree in the fields or related fields or equivalent not meeting a CGPA of 2.75 but above CGPA of 2.50, can be accepted subject to rigorous internal assessment; OR
- A Bachelor’s degree in the fields or related fields or equivalent not meeting a CGPA of 2.50 can be accepted subject to a minimum of five (5) years working experience in a related field; OR
- Fulfilled the Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) admission process for Master’s Degree in related area.
A candidate applying for admission into this programme is required to submit a research proposal to the faculty. The acceptance of a candidate shall be at the discretion of the UiTM Senate, whose decision shall be final.
